Centralia Generation

The Centralia Generating Facility is located in Centralia, Washington. The facility historically operated two coal-fired generating units.

In December 2025, TransAlta announced plans to convert Centralia Unit 2 from coal-fired generation to natural gas-fired generation, subject to regulatory approvals.

The conversion is intended to extend the useful life of the facility while supporting long-term reliability and reducing emissions intensity relative to coal-fired operations.

Further information is available through TransAlta’s public disclosures and a dedicated information page.
